Following directives from Sindh’s Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, SharjeelInamMemon, the Excise Department has launched a Rapid Response Unit to operate around the clock. This new unit, based in the office of the Director General of Excise, is part of a broader initiative to intensify the fight against narcotics and enhance tax revenue collection. According to the issued orders, the Rapid Response Unit will work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ensuring continuous operations against drug-related activities.

The DG Excise will lead this unit, emphasizing its critical role in achieving the department’s objectives. In addition to establishing the unit, Minister SharjeelInamMemon has imposed a ban on all types of leaves and transfer postings for all officers and officials within the Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department.

The working hours for excise officers have also been extended, requiring them to work seven days a week. Minister Memon highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening efforts against drug trafficking and improving tax collection procedures. “The establishment of the Rapid Response Unit is a significant step towards achieving these goals,” he stated.

“By working round-the-clock, the Rapid Response Unit will ensure swift and effective action against narcotics, enhancing our ability to safeguard the community and meet our tax revenue targets.”
