Sindh government has decided to take legal action against individuals who fail to return or misuse official vehicles. FIRs will be registered against those named for unauthorized use, according to decisions made during a key meeting of the Sindh Cabinet’s Subcommittee on Austerity. The meeting, chaired by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon in Karachi, was attended by Provincial Ministers Saeed Ghani, Ali Hassan Zardari, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, and Secretary GA Muhammad Nawaz Soho. Key outcomes of the meeting included a decision to auction abandoned government vehicles and implement strict measures to reduce unnecessary expenditures.
Recommendations from the members focused on controlling costs related to vehicle allocation, petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL). The committee emphasized the need for transparent auction processes, with funds generated to be allocated for priority projects. Members also called for clear guidelines to regulate the allocation and use of official vehicles to ensure accountability. Sharjeel Inam Memon stressed the importance of curbing unnecessary use of government vehicles and reducing rising POL expenses. He directed those steps be taken to ensure a completely transparent auction process for outdated vehicles. “Effective measures are necessary to prevent the misuse of official vehicles and control soaring expenditures,” he added.
