Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Mohammad Sohail Rajput, has successfully addressed several public complaints, showcasing prompt action to resolve issues involving government departments and private institutions. In one case, Najma Ara, a resident of Orangi Town, lodged a complaint stating that her plot in Surjani Town, Sector 4-B (L-65), had been unlawfully occupied by land grabbers with alleged collusion from Sub-Inspector Chaudhry Afzal of the Surjani Town Police Station. Despite her repeated complaints, no action was taken. Upon receiving the complaint, Ombudsman Rajput summoned the SHO of Surjani Town, directed an immediate resolution, and successfully facilitated the recovery of her plot. Another complaint was filed by Mohammad Iqbal Nini, a Gulbai Karachi resident, who reported severe waterlogging on his plot (S-101) in the SITE area due to a blocked stormwater drain.

He stated that the stagnant water was damaging his factory’s foundations, and the responsible authorities had ignored the issue. Acting on the Ombudsman’s orders, a joint team from the Sindh Industrial Trading Estate and Sindh Solid Waste Management Board inspected the site and cleared the drain, removing RCC encroachments placed by land mafias. In a third case, Qamar Zaman from Gulshan-e-Rohi Rafa-e-Aam complained about Maple Grammar School in Malir.

Due to financial hardship—exacerbated by his wife’s thyroid cancer—he requested a fee waiver under the Sindh Education Department’s 10% full free-ship policy for students from low-income families. However, his request was denied by the school, and no action was taken by the Director of Registration of Private Institutions Sindh. The Ombudsman directed immediate intervention, after which the Directorate of Inspection confirmed that both of Zaman’s children had been granted full free-ship by the school.
