The Sindh government has intensified efforts to launch environment-friendly electric vehicle (EV) taxis to support unemployed youth across the province. Under this initiative, the government will provide EV taxis to jobless individuals on easy installment plans, aiming to promote sustainable livelihoods.
Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has directed Secretary of Transport Asad Zaman to engage with various banks and devise suitable financial models for the program. During a meeting at the Sindh Secretariat on Wednesday, representatives of a company assembling EV taxis in Karachi briefed Sharjeel Memon about the eco-friendly vehicles. Secretary of Transport Asad Zaman, Sindh Mass Transit Authority MD Kamal Dayo, and other officials were also present at the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharjeel Memon emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting unemployed individuals. “We aim to provide EV taxis on easy installments, enabling people to earn a sustainable livelihood,” he said. He added that these green taxis align with the government’s vision for a greener Sindh and will create job opportunities for youth, fostering economic growth through sustainable means.
