National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah has said that illegal and unconstitutional 2019 decision of the Modi-led Indian government in occupied Jammu and Kashmir is reversible, and vowed to keep it alive.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a media interview in Srinagar, Abdullah stated that the decision to hollow out Article 370 was a man-made decision and every man-made decision can be reversed. He pointed out that three previous judgments challenging Article 370 were upheld by the Supreme Court in the past, and maybe in the future, a bench will reverse the latest apex court judgment.
Abdullah emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cannot remain in power forever, and there are parties that have different views on scrapping the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the need to keep the issue alive and wait for the time when they will be able to get something back.
He also rubbished the claims of the Modi government that the situation has normalized in Kashmir with the scrapping of Article 370, citing the recent killings and ongoing cordon and search operations. Abdullah further stated that Article 370 scrapping did not lead to high voter turnout in Kashmir and claims made by Modi and Amit Shah are not based on facts.
On the issue of lakhs of people suffering due to adverse police reports in IIOJK, Abdullah said that this is an injustice. He further mentioned that police are harassing political workers, detaining them.—KMS
