Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood on Monday refuted the false news that the government in the wake of a surge in Coronavirus cases was going to close schools across the country from October 15.
In a post on social media, the federal minister made it clear there was no truth in the news and the health authorities were closely monitoring the situation and all the educational institutions have been given directions to strictly enforce the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for coronavirus.
“Fake news being circulated on social media that educational institutions will be closed on Oct 15. No truth in this,” said the minister in his tweet.
If a case of Covid-19 is reported, necessary action will be taken that can vary from testing of the staff members, disinfection of the building and even temporary closure of the school, said the federal minister.
