Saudi Arabia claim 3rd straight Arab Taekwondo Championship in Fujairah

The Saudi national team have been crowned champions of the Arab Taekwondo Cham-pionship, which wrapped up on Wednesday at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah, UAE, as reported by Arriyadiyah.

The victory marks the third time in a row that the team from the Kingdom has claimed the title.

More than 1,200 male and female athletes took part in the fourth edition of the tournament, with the Saudi squad claiming 14 medals to top the final standings.

Saudi Arabia’s tally included five gold medals for Donia Abu Talib and Ahmed Al-Mawllad in the adult category, Abdulrahman Al-Shahrani and Anas Al-Qarnos in the youth category, and Abdulaziz Shabani in the junior category; two silver medals for Miral Matar and Ahmed bin Qasim; and seven bronze medals for Abdulelah Asiri, Ali Al-Mabrouk, Abdullah Al-Mushrif, Rakan Al-Salamah, Abdulmohsen Al-Shuwaibi, Hamad Al-Shenaifi, and Rand Al-Sakib.

Shaddad Al-Omari, president of the Saudi Taekwondo Federation, said the championship represented the Saudi team’s first international participation of the season, and also acted as preparation for upcoming tournaments, most notably the Turkish Open 2024 taking place from Feb. 10-15 in the city of Antalya.—Agencies
