Sarwar confers ‘Governor Awards’ on 29 personalities

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has conferred “Governor Awards” on 29 personalities for their outstanding services in various fields including eminent social activist Faisal Edhi and Justice (Retd) Nasira Javed Iqbal.

According to the details, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar conferred Governor Award on Faisal Edhi of Edhi Foundation, Justice retired Nasira Javaid Iqbal for services in the provision of timely justice , social activist Kiran Aleem Khan, Entrepreneur Shehla Javaid Akram for supporting women in the business sector, Vice-Chairman of One vision, Four Goals Imran Saleemi, Musarrat Misbah for rehabilitation of acid victims, Darman Ashraf for services during the Coronavirus Pandemic, Deeba Shahnawaz Akhtar of Rescue1122 during the Governor’s Awards ceremony held at Governor House, Lahore on Friday.

Chairperson Lady Golf PGF Asma Afzal Shami, Former Chairperson Pasban Welfare Center and Mrs Shamshad Shahnawaz were also honoured with Governor Awards in recognition of their social services.

Governor Awards were conferred on Faiza Khurram on services in the health sector, Mohsin Mukhtar for services in the education sector. Prof. Balqis Sabir, Prof. Marham Malik, Punjab Girls Guide’s Salma Sajid for training women.

Dr Muhammad Nadeem Khawaja, Nighat Shakir, Dr Aneesa Fatima, Dr Adnan Gilani for outstanding services in the health sector were conferred with Governor Award, whereas the rector of Superior University Dr Sumaira Rehman, Dr Waleed Shafqat, Maheen Shahid, Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Mohammad Yasin Khan, Nadra Umer, Shoaib Naeem, Sadia Khan, Mrs Sabahat Rafique were honoured with Governor Awards. Mrs Perveen Sarwar was present among the others on this occasion.

Addressing the Governor Awards ceremony , Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that those who serve humanity are always remembered in history, adding that all those who have been given authority and position by Allah Almighty should do justice with the responsibility given to them.

He further said that It is the responsibility of every Pakistani to play his role in the development and stability of the country.

Pakistan is facing many challenges and these circumstances can only be overcome through collective efforts .

Governor Punjab said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Ehsas Program, Kaamyab Jawan Program and Koi Bhooka Na Soye program is also aimed at serving the humanity, adding that there is no political discrimination in execution of public welfare projects

All resources are being utilised for the development and prosperity of the people in a transparent manner, he said.

Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar congratulated the awardees and said that there can be no greater service than the service of humanity.

The philanthropists have done a great service during the Coronavirus Pandemic, adding that from the platform of Governor House, a charity of Rs. 10 billion was done and we will continue to stand with the people during times of distress.

While addressing the event, Begum Perveen Sarwar said that her life’s mission is solely to serve the humanity and the empowerment of women for which she was working through Sarwar Foundation, Women Peace Council and HunarGah.

Today, Sarwar Foundation is the largest charitable organization in Pakistan that is providing free clean drinking water to 2.2 million people, she said.

She further said every individual, including women, should be encouraged who is showing outstanding performance in one field or another. All citizens including women who are doing brilliant work in their respective fields must be encouraged, she added.
