Continuous progress is being made to establish a world-class city in the vicinity of Lahore and the project has reached to ground level now, stated by Chairman Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) Rashid Aziz on Wednesday.
Sharing details, he said the initiative is the largest avant-garde project in the history of the country by prognosticating new trends. The new city to be developed near the river Ravi will be equipped with the latest technology tools and it will be a unique example for the whole region, he added. This project also includes urban forest, river works and lakes to beautify the gigantic project. This is not only an environmental initiative but will also depict clean and green Pakistan vision of PM Imran Khan, he held. It is to add that the PM has taken a keen interest in the initiative and federal as well provincial leadership has ensured their full cooperation for its timely completion, he said.
Rashid Aziz maintained that the new city will be even larger than the federal capital with regard to its volume. The problems will be utilized as resources and a high-tech waste management plant will be installed to generate electricity for meeting the city’s energy needs, he added. The project has reached to ground level and the authority is working hard to accelerate a mega project of this size and length. He further disclosed that the RUDA will generate 2 lakh employments from the outset and accommodate as much as 49 industrial sectors.
RUDA will be an important initiative to strengthen the economy as corona pandemic has affected the global economy. Local and international investors have shown interest in this project and proposals from various countries, including China and Pakistan, have been received, he added. There is no dearth of investment to complete the project, he further said.
