Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that the route of Malir Expressway project has been changed at the request of the people of Malir. The Sindh government was trying to minimize the population.
He said this while presiding over an important meeting on Malir Expressway project. President PPP Karachi Division and Provincial Minister for Education Saeed Ghani specially attended the meeting.
Secretary Local Government Najam Shah, Project Director Niaz Soomro, Senior Director Public Private Partnership Unit Danish Patel, Additional Commissioner Karachi Asad Ali Khan, CEO Malir Expressway Project Tanveer Ahmed Khan, DC Korangi Irfan Salam, CFOMWE Tanveer Albari, Director Technical Malir Expressway M Hashim and others were present.
Shah said that the change of route of the project has been finalized after consultation with the elected representatives and stakeholders of Malir.
He further said that Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Mara Ali Shah has also approved the change of route for the Malir Expressway project.
The minister directed Deputy Commissioner Malir Ganahor Leghari to identify alternatives to the project affected population so that they could be provided alternatives. Instructing to start work on Quaidabad Phase 1 from Jam Sadiq Bridge.
Briefing the meeting, ADC Malir said that 400 to 500 unpaved and paved houses are being affected by the new route, while 40 acres. Private land is coming in a new route.
