River Indus is rising at Chashma and Taunsa

LAHORE – River Indus is at medium flood level and rising at Chashma and Taunsa.

River Indus at Tarbela and Guddu, River Kabul at Nowshera, River Ravi at Balloki and River Sutlej at Ganda Singh Wala and Sulemanki are in Low flood levels.

Flash flooding of moderate to heavy intensity is expected in the Nullahs of Balochistan (Loralai, Kalat, Sibbi, Makran, Nasirabad Divisions) and hill torrents of D G Khan division during the next 24 hours.

Flash flooding is also expected in the tributaries of River Kabul after 48 hours.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has directed the administration of divisions across Punjab to ensure the completion of all necessary arrangements to cope with any flood emergency.

PDMA has already issued a flood alert for the administration of Sargodha, D G Khan, Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan due to rising water level at River Indus.

According to synoptic situation, a fresh trough of westerly wave lies over northern parts of Afghanistan.

A trough (remnant of monsoon low) lies over Sindh.

Moderate to strong moist currents from Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea are penetrating lower half of the country up to 5000 feet.

Light to moderate currents are penetrating upper half of the country up to 5000 feet.

Under the influence of these weather conditions, scattered to widespread wind thunderstorm/rain of moderate intensity with heavy falls at isolated places is expected over South & Southeast Sindh along with Zhob, Loralai, Kalat, Sibbi, Makran, Nasirabad, D G Khan, D I Khan, Bannu and Kohat divisions during the next 24 hours.

Scattered wind thunderstorm rain of moderate intensity with isolated heavy falls is expected over the upper catchments of all the major rivers along with Peshawar Division and rest of Punjab and Sindh during the period.

Current wet spell is likely to continue over most parts of country and subside over Sindh during the next 48 hours.

Jhelum: Palandri=43, Muzaffarabad (Airport=30 & City=26), Sargodha (Airbase)=29, Chattar Kallas=21, Domel & Rawalakot=13 each.

Chenab: Multan [Chungi No.9=77, Shuja Abad =64, Mumtazabad=62, Airport=57, City=22], Gujranwala=42.

Ravi: Okara=143, Lahore [Shahdara=67, Shahi Qilla=51, Lackshami=45, Mughal Pura=42, Misri Shah=28, Tajpura=26, Upper Mall=15].

Sutlej: Kasur=106, Bahawalpur =19.

Others: Karachi [Surjani Town=100, Saadi Town=58, Gulshan e Maymar=54, North Karachi & University Road=51 each, Orangi Town=43, Jinnah Terminal=31, Gulshan e Hadeed=24, Airport=23, Quaidabad=17, Faisal Base=14, Nazimabad=12), Zhob=24 & Chaman=13.
