The Sindh High Court (SHC) has sought response from the Sindh government and Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) on the closure of former president ArifAlvi’s dental clinic.

SHC heard the case filed by ArifAlvi’s family against closure of the dental clinic. SBCA lawyer and ArifAlivi’s senior lawyer Anwar Mansoor Khan appeared before the court today in a case hearing.AnwarMansoor contended that officials had sealed the dental clinic of ArifAlvi and this act was illegal.SBCA lawyer informed the court that the clinic had been de-sealed temporarily to run necessary affairs.

The Sindh government lawyer requested some time to submit the response, during the hearing.Applicant’s lawyer pleaded the court to issue directives for the immediate opening of the dental clinic. The court adjourned the case hearing until October 21 by seeking a response from the Sindh government and SBCA.It is pertinent to note that the court appointed a court official as commissioner to provide interim relief.Permission to necessary documents retrieval was granted in the presence of SHC’ official and he was also directed to form inventory in front of the clinic.SBCA on October 3 sealed the dental clinic of former president DrArifAlvi in Karachi.According to a statement issued by SBCA, the dental clinic located in Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society (SMCHS) was established in a residential bungalow. The clinic was sealed following complaints of commercial activities in a residential area. The SBCA statement said that notices were issued to clinic management but after getting no response from them the action to seal the clinic was taken.Alvi’s wife SaminaAlvi and his son AwasbAlvi moved SHC and filed a plea which was accepted by the court.ArifAlvi’s consul contended that the act of sealing the clinic was political revenge and ArifAlvi was being harassed on political grounds.Lawyer added that the dental clinic was operationalised for a long time and no notice was issued before sealing the clinic.
