Rescue 1122 responds to 1,024 accidents

The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue1122) responded to 1024 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during last 24 hours. In these RTCs, 08 people died, whereas 1107 were injured. Out of this, 658 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals.

Whereas, 449 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams thus reducing the burden of Hospitals.

The majority (68%) Motorbikes were involved, therefore effective enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline are essential to reduce this increasing number of Road Traffic Crashes.

Further, the analysis showed that 395 drivers, 48 underage drivers, 199 pedestrians, and 521 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

The statistics show that 262 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 267 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 82 in Faisalabad with 95 victims, and at third 54 RTCS in Gujranwala with 63 victims.

The details further reveal that 1115 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 916 males & 199 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 203 were under 18 years of age, 591 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 321 victims were reported above 40 years of age.

According to the data 878 motorbikes, 125 auto-rickshaws, 87 motorcars, 28 vans, 07 passenger buses, 26 trucks and 129 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
