Staff Reporter Sindh Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Abdul Bari Pitafi inaugurated the newly constructed Conservation and Information Center at Keenjhar Lake. Secretary Fisheries and Livestock Ijaz Ahmed Mahesar, Director General Fisheries Mir Alhad Talpur, Director Fisheries, Deputy Director Fisheries Khalilur Rehman Wagan and other concerned officials were present. Talking to the media on the occasion, the Minister said that the department is working day and night for the employment and welfare of the fishermen and the purpose of our frequent visits is to meet the farmers and fishermen here to identify these issues and try to solve immediately. He said that an excellent center was set up at Keenjhar Lake at a such a cheap cost, which consists of 4 beds and full RCC structure. He said that this year there are plans to release 64 lakh fish seeds in Kenjhar Lake and close to 32 lakh beaches while 40,000 fish seeds have been released today besides all the fishermen have been provided with iceboxes, bicycles and nets etc. He said that through various canals from Keenjhar Lake, which provides water to Karachi, nets have been set up to ensure the prevention of fish. Responding to the question about the arrival of chemical contaminated water from various factories in Keenjhar Lake, the Minister said that there is a law on chemical water and the industrialists and factory owners have been compelled to prohibit chemicals.
