The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, has said that the fires ignited by the Hindutva nationalist government led by Narendra Modi on 5th August 2019 to dismember and wipe out the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has been loaded with the highest magnitude of terror and Delhi’s interference in all walks of public and private life.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement in Islamabad said, the new Indian sponsored Reorganization Act has made assault on the IIOJK’s demographics, culture and religion and 131 years old official language policy to mainly strike at the popular Urdu language as a lingua franca. He said the entire population of the Kashmir has been caged by India and their voice through any mode continues to remain choked and strangled since 5th August 2019, political leaders, workers, civil society members are in far-flung prisons of India and the visits and meetings of relatives with the inmates have been made impossible and inaccessible.
He said, Hurriyat organizations and offices have been banned and sealed, newspapers have lost freedom to write independently and give vent to public sentiments about their depression, deprivation and genuine legal questions and courts cannot pass remarks on the Indian state repression and lockdowns and crackdowns or economic crippling of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Farooq Rehmani stated that the people are in the grip of both State tyranny and the COVID-19 calamity, the ratio of COVID deaths and cases are enhancing beyond imagination while the Modi regime and its servants are indifferent to health issues and terrible pandemic challenges on ground. The BJP regime is involved in changing the total Muslim identity of the illegally occupied territory, he said.
The JKPFL Chairman warned that the UN General Assembly in the upcoming session should note that India had not only violated the UN resolutions and agreements but the international laws, both humanitarian and political and broken the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of the Human Rights. He deplored that the UN had done nothing to prevent India from such Himalayan violations.
Farooq Rehmani demanded immediate UN intervention in IIOJK to save the life and honour of the helpless people. He expressed the fear that if the World Body did nothing to change this condition, its future would be doomed like that of the former League of Nations as the three nuclear states were prepared to take cudgels along the borders that had every potential to give birth to any catastrophe in the world.—KMS
