As part of its Seeds for the Future program, Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT), hosted a delegation of Pakistani students at its Beijing R&D center. In addition to being accompanied by teachers, the 10 students were joined by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce, Abdul Razzak Dawood, and Federal Minister for Planning, Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar.
Delivering a welcome speech during the launch of the program, President of Huawei Middle East, Charles Yang, welcomed the delegation from Pakistan and introduced Huawei’s existing information and communications technology (ICT) talent training programs in Pakistan, which includes Seeds for the Future, the Huawei ICT Competition, and ICT Academies.
This year, students from 10 top institutes and universities were jointly selected by the Higher Education Commission and Huawei to visit Beijing to participate in the Seeds for the Future program. As part of the program, the Pakistani Seeds students will learn Chinese language and experience cultural exchange, as well as visiting Huawei’s labs, attending ICT workshops, and participating in hands-on experiments.
During the launch event, the CEO of Huawei Pakistan, Saif Chi, announced the launch of two new scholarship programs in Pakistan. These programs will enable Pakistani students to study in China, and will provide AI training for teachers nominated by Higher Education Commission.
Chi also announced Huawei’s commitment to establish more ICT Academies in Pakistan. In his speech, Bakhtyar expressed appreciation of Huawei’s contribution to ICT development in Pakistan, encouraging the students to make the most of their time with Huawei.
