Punjab police on Sunday arrested dozens of thePakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists who were protesting against thealleged rigging in the Feb 8 election in Rawalpindi.
The police also resorted to lathi-charge and tear gas to disperse thegathering of large number of people near Arshi Masjid, Sadiqabad,Rawalpindi.
They were assembled to register their protest after the former primeminister Imran Khan urged supporters to protest against the rigging. To handle the increasing number of PTI activists, a large number of copsstarted to assemble at the Murree Road and other places.PTI-backed independent candidates took the most seats in the polls,scarpering the chances of the established backed Pakistan MuslimLeague-Nawaz (PML-N) to win a ruling majority.
