Former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja has questioned the reasons behind pacer Ihsanullah’s continued omission from the national side.
The 20-year-old has not featured in a single game against the visiting New Zealand side despite impressing in his international debut series against Afghanistan.
Many had expected Ihsanullah to share the fast-bowling duties with Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf but the fans are yet to see this trio in action.
Ihsanullah’s omission from the playing XI has now caught the eye of Ramiz Raja who expressed the sentiment shared by many.
In my opinion, Pakistan should let Ihsanullah play. He has already proven himself in the Afghanistan series in UAE, and it’s unlikely that he has suddenly fallen behind the line. Furthermore, he has done nothing wrong and possesses a unique talent for generating extra bounce, which gives him added comfort and confidence in a winning environment, Ramiz was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
I fail to understand the logic behind keeping Ihsanullah out of the lineup and pushing him so far back that he may not even get a chance to play. He clearly possesses a talent that is visible to all, and therefore, I believe he should be given a fair opportunity to showcase his skills on the field, he added.
The worrying sign here is that Ihsanullah has been kept away from the playing XI despite not putting a foot wrong. He followed up a strong PSL 8 with another brilliant series against Afghanistan but it appears that the new team management is not fully sold on him as of yet.
