Nobody can surpass the Indian leaders and their media when it comes to distort-ing the facts.
Sticking to the intransigence, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, at an event in Jammu, once again reiterated the unwarranted remarks that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and that the abrogation of Arti-cle 370 has brought a new dawn of hope to the aspirations of the people of the territory.
This is not the first time that an Indian leader has made such an irresponsible statement but these can never alter the reality about Jammu & Kashmir which is an internationally recognized dispute and its solution lies only in the UN Secu-rity Council resolutions which accept the right of self-determination of Kash-miri people.
The fact of the matter is that the Kashmiris have never accepted the Indian rule. Had they done so, they would not have been sacrificing lives and tolerating the atrocities at the hands of Indian forces.
Foreign Office Spokesper-son Asim Iftikhar whilst reacting to Rajnath’s statement very rightly stated that India has not been able to smother the flame of freedom from the hearts of Kashmiris despite imposing draconian laws, holding the entire valley under military siege for decades, imprisoning thousands of innocent Kashmiris and their true representatives and wanton killing of over 100,000 Kashmiris.
The Indian government cannot hide the ground realities in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The situation is so alarming that despite repeated calls by international organizations including the United Nations and the OIC, Modi Government is not allowing the fact finding missions to visit the valley.
Instead of misleading the world, it will be better for the Indian government to demonstrate sanity and move towards the resolution of the lingering dispute for durable peace and stability in the South Asian region.
Resolution of this dispute will open new vistas of cooperation amongst the regional countries to fight poverty, backwardness and ignorance.
It is also for the world community, especially the important capitals to pressurize India to stop human rights violations in the occupied valley and move towards resolution of the dispute through negotiations with Pakistan and the genuine Kashmiri leadership.
