The scintillating start to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 will continue tonight with Quetta Gladiators set to take on Peshawar Zalmi in each side’s second game of the tournament.

Pakistan Observer brings you all you need to know ahead of the marquee matchup.

Quetta Gladiators vs Peshawar Zalmi head-to-head:

The Quetta vs Zalmi is a primordial PSL rivalry going back to the very first season of the competition.

Zalmi has a slight edge in the overall matchups with 11 games to 8 courtesy of a six-game win streak against tonight’s opposition.

Quetta last won a game against Zalmi way back on March 17th 2019.

When and where will the game take place?

The match will be played at National Bank Cricket Arena at 7:00 PM (PKT).

Players to watch:

Peshawar will rely on the strength of its batting to get the upper hand so they will need a solid hand from Babar Azam. Saim Ayub and Mohammad Haris are also in good nick while Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Jimmy Neesham will be crucial as well.

Whether Peshawar starts Dasun Shanaka is something to keep an eye on as well.

For Quetta Martin Guptill will look to continue his good form after smashing a century in their previous game while Will Smeed, who averages 98.00 against Zalmi, should finally get a game.

Gladiators should realistically also give their platinum pick Wanindu Hasaranga a go as well.

Mohammad Nawaz, Odean Smith and Qais Ahmed will all be crucial with the ball against Zalmi’s batting lineup.

Form:

Both Zalmi and Gladiators have one win each from their two opening games.

Zalmi beat Kings in their opening game before losing to Multan while Gladiators opened with a loss to Multan before bouncing back against Kings.

With such fine margins this year as evidenced by the PSL table, neither side can afford a heavy loss in the game which should make for a good contest.
