After more than three months of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Punjab government has decided to reopen all universities across the province.
According to sources, the provincial government has finalised all recommendations with the consultation of vice-chancellors of all varsities.
According to a strategy prepared by the provincial govt, Masters and Ph.D. classes will commence in the first phase.
The Higher Education Department has prepared recommendations and sent them to the federation. The final decision on the reopening of universities will be announced by Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood.
Meanwhile, Punjab School Education Minister Dr Murad Raas on Saturday said that schools will be reopened from August 15 across the province if situation gets better.
Murad Raas said that all students will not be allowed to attend school simultaneously and only twenty pupils will be permitted to sit in one classroom.
The provincial minister further added that only important classes will be held in first phase. I will meet affected students of the Lahore Grammar School and their parents on Monday, he said.
