LAHORE – Naanbi [bakers] associations will go on strike across Punjab by Wednesday (tomorrow).
The associations including Lahore and rest of Punjab gave strike call against the provincial government’s policies.
Aftab Gul, the President of Naanbai Association in Lahore, said that the local authorities did not pay heed to their demands.
“We have waited for a month, we will not wait any longer. From tomorrow, all tandoors [ovens] across Punjab will be closed.
The Naanbai Association has demanded a new notifications regarding the price of bread and naan.
The Associations demanded that the price of naan be regulated, and flour be provided at subsidized rates for bread sale against the cheaper rates.
