ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar stated on Thursday that banning the PTI would lead to the downfall of the current government.
Speaking to the media alongside PTI leaders Omar Ayub Khan, Shibli Faraz, and Asad Qaiser after attending a joint parliamentary party meeting of the PTI and Sunni-Ittehad Council (SIC), the PTI chief announced plans to approach the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) regarding the appointment of ad-hoc judges in the Supreme Court.
He emphasized that the PTI represents 70% of Pakistanis and has a presence throughout the country, asserting that the party should not face such treatment across all platforms.
Criticizing the appointment of ad-hoc judges in the Supreme Court, the PTI chief argued that the simultaneous appointment of four ad-hoc judges undermines the judiciary’s independence.
“This decision is based on malicious intentions. This is not the time for such decisions but a time to respect Supreme Court verdicts. We demand the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to immediately issue our notifications,” he stressed.
Besides it, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan criticized the Chief Justice of Pakistan for appointing like-minded judges, urging the CJP not to assign PTI’s cases to ad-hoc judges.
Moreover, Opposition Leader in the Senate Shibli Faraz condemned the government for filing false cases against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
