PESHAWAR – A PTI-supported candidate Rehan Zeb Khan was gunned down during the election campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa on Wednesday.
Police said unidentified attackers opened fire on Rehan Zeb Khan during the election campaign. The deceased was contesting polls from NA-8 and PK-22 seats.
Initial reports show that election candidate came under attack in the Sadiqabad Phatak Bazar area.
The recent attack comes amid a series of ambush on political candidates in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Amidst concerns about the worsening security situation in the country, lawmakers are calling for delay in the upcoming polls as a number of attacks has increased.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and caretakers have also taken note of situation.
In another attack, Awami National Party (ANP) office comes under attack in Chaman city, resulting in the death of party worker, Zahoor Ahmed. A hand grenade attack was hurled at election office in Quetta’s Sariab Road left three people injured.
