Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Member of Sindh Assembly and Vice President of Sindh Raja Azhar wrote a letter to the President on the desecration of Quran in Sweden. Raja Azhar wrote that the incident hurt the hearts of Muslims living in Pakistan and all over the world.

The government’s silence on the sanctity of the Holy Quran is very sad and alarming. Muslim states including the OIC did not register a global protest on the matter. Pakistan is not an Islamic Republic in name only. They hold that, under the guise of freedom of expression, the harassment of Muslims is intolerable, it is necessary to determine severe punishments against the elements who desecrate the Holy Quran.

He further wrote that it is necessary to determine severe punishments against the elements who desecrate the Holy Quran, the United Nations should oblige that such incidents related to the sanctity of the Holy Quran do not happen again.
