PTI engages with US Ambassador Donald Blome on Pakistan’s political situation

ISLAMABAD – A senior delegation of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf met United States Ambassador Donald Blome and discussed the ongoing political crisis in Pakistan.

Discussions related to the rule of law and political situation were discussed as Imran Khan-led party seeks international support amid the current impasse.

PTI General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub, former speaker Asad Qaisar, Barrister Gohar Ayub and other members were in meeting with US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome.

Ambassador Blome underscored Washignton’s support for Pakistan to engage constructively with the IMF on its reform program. He also highlighted the importance of the two countries’ shared interests and the many opportunities to advance our shared goals, including accelerating projects addressing climate change under the Green Alliance framework.

After the meeting, PTI leader clarified that Imran Khan’s release was not discussed in the meeting. PTI delegation discussed issues related to the rule of law and the ongoing political crisis in Pakistan, he said.

Omar stressed rule of law for country’s progress and that the current environment is not conducive to economic development.

He also welcomed apex court’s decision on reserved seats. He said that the women and minorities who were elected on reserved seats do not belong to the government.
