Secretary Food Punjab Waqas Ali Mehmood has said that for the convenience of farmers, there will be only one holiday on Eid-ul-Fitr and procurement of wheat will start on the second day of Eid,
In this regard, the teams of Revenue Department will be given special task at the level of centers to ensure 100% procurement of wheat in lieu of issued gunny bags and take legal action against those who illegally procure and store wheat. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting held in connection with the visit to Sialkot and Sambrial wheat procurement centers and wheat procurement drive at DC office Sialkot.
DC Sialkot Dr. Nasir Mehmood Bashir briefed the Secretary Food briefed about the arrangements made for the procurement of wheat in Sialkot district and the action taken against the stockiest.
The Secretary Food directed that action be taken against the hoarders for achieving the target of procurement of wheat and in the areas where wheat has not been harvested yet, especially in the area above the Chenab river, to facilitate the farmers and wheat should be stored in the same areas by making bundles keeping in view the government SOPs.
