Federal Minister for National Health, Dr. Nadeem Jan has announced an approval for a reduction in the prices of four medicines used for patients admitted to ICU, while a crackdown against counterfeit and unregistered medications is also underway.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, Dr. Nadeem Jan revealed that the cabinet has granted approval for a reduction in the prices of four medicines primarily utilized for patients admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
He highlighted that the cost of Colistimethate Sodium has decreased by 55% to 65%. The price of a 1 million-unit injection, which was previously 2987 rupees, has now been reduced to 1036 rupees.
Dr. Nadeem Jan further stated that the price of a 2 million-unit injection has dropped from 4564 rupees to 1737 rupees, and a 3 million-unit injection, which was initially 5855 rupees, is now priced at 2591 rupees.
He emphasized that a crackdown against counterfeit and unregistered medications is in progress. Despite the challenging circumstances, he affirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to providing relief to the public.
