Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday sought reply from the government and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) over not barring the banks for receiving installments of the loans in the wake of the coronavirus.
Athar Minallah, Chief Justice IHC, heard the petition filed by a citizen against not stopping the banks for receiving monthly installments of loans in the lock-down situation as a measure to contain the coroanvirus.
The petitioner Rafiq Ur Rehman opined that he works in a private company as a motorbike rider to earn his living adding that the lock-down in the wake of the coronavirus has paralyzed the life, in the given situation” I am not able to pay back my monthly installments of a loan worth of Rs 75000 under the national rural support program while the bank is asking for the monthly installment.”
The petitioner said that he also forwarded his application to the SBP and the PM but he was not responded.
To which, the court issuing notice to the federal government, secretary finance, Chairman NDMA, Governor SBP, officials of National Rural Support Programme and asked them all to reply until April 17.
