Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that not even a drop of province’s water share will be given to anyone.“We will not surrender a drop of the water of our share,” the Chief Minister said while talking here to media in Karachi on Saturday.Murad Ali Shah said if anyone keeps an eye on Sindh’s water share, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will be on the frontline to tackle it because Sindh’s stance on the water issue is clear.
“Bilawal Bhutto wants to address our reservations by dialogue with the PML-N,” Shah further said. Murad Ali Shah said that the PPP enjoys 2/3 representation in Sindh. “The People’s Party always remained at forefront over Sindh’s water share struggle, Benazir Bhutto had staged sit-in against Kalabagh dam project,” he further said.
The Chief Minister said the water accord was not right but it should be implemented despite some are giving it the wrong impression.Murad Ali Shah said a meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) should be called and if necessary he will write a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.Murad said the PPP will restore the students’ unions and that is why they have also appointed an advisor.
“We have a clear stance over the proposed construction of six canals from Indus River, that this project is not acceptable to us,” he said. “The PPP will not compromise over Sindh’s right over the Indus River’s water at any cost,” he added. He said the Pakistan People’s Party will never compromise on Sindh’s water and earlier they had opposed the Kalabagh Dam even during the reign of Benazir Bhutto.
