ARE general elections imminent? God knows, not anyone else in the country. However, currently, the election campaign is in full swing, and meetings of the politicians are being held in the marriage hall of Marriage-De-Convenience, illuminated for the occasion. The entire media has escorted the marriage halls to capture every move of the political contestants, holding their candid cameras.
The intelligentsia, the political observers and even the commoners are spellbound with the display of the conjuring by the political conjurer. A long list of the evils of the contestants is blinking in red in the catalogue box before the eyes of the voters but even then they will vote for them because of their ignorance or may it for false hopes for the betterment towards them shocking with the utmost deteriorated social state of my countrymen, I would like to replay the episodes of the charges against the political contestants who befool them all the times.
All the major political parties have brought havoc to the country. They never produce peace of mind or better glory to their countrymen. They have brought high enhances to their deprivation. It is very much obvious that their righteousness for the people has been proved absolutely false because whatever they do for the people they do it as investment. Their every action is to earn for themselves but not for the earnings of their people.
How unfortunate it is that after having earned the votes from the people of their constituencies, the contestants often turn a deaf ear and blind eye to the necessities and comforts of the voters. It’s only during the election season that political contestants embark on whirlwind tours to their constituencies to inquire about the voters’ plight. They participate in the funerals of voters’ families to offer condolences or express good wishes for weddings. During times of divine disaster, political leaders emerge as divine helpers to their people, showing their connectedness through thick and thin.
They hug the dirty marooned people and distribute kind and cash to the affectees, tears trickle down from their eyes at the hard conditions of the people. The market-minded political people are merely interested in protecting and promoting their own businesses and expanding their own power empires. They dish out all the public development funds exclusively to their own near and dear ones who spend these funds on their own lavish excursion trips overseas, purportedly for medical check-ups.
Plato, a highly renowned philosopher, wrote in his books, “Democracy always gives rise to corruption, promoting the incompetent and insane individuals to govern the country. It suppresses the intelligentsia and honest people who could otherwise improve the lives of the common populace. The illegal practices of democratic leaders dismantle the entire legal process, causing a country to regress.”
Islam is not a political religion because the political system is not based on the consciousness of the politicians. Politics is not reconciled with morality or obligation. In history it has been observed that politics and morality has been rarely in tandem associated or commitment. The religious and conscious-based politicians have a direct effect on the relations of the people. They have no charter to spell out their own obligations. The political leaders now have strange existing theories; they maintain that if the politicians do not wield power and prerogative they are helpless to perform their obligations for their people.
Tragically, politics in Pakistan has been placed on the market table where everyone, who keeps the higher amount, can participate in the auction process. This business man is only focused on his own business, not interested in the wellbeing of the down-trodden people. Currently, due to mismanagement of the previous regimes, the country’s economy has been completely ravaged and, to bad luck, if the predecessors get back to the track, it will take no time to derail the country. Not a single manager of the government has prioritized utilization of the country’s natural resources, God has bestowed upon Pakistan in abundance, which could provide a peaceful and honourable lifestyle for the commoners.
