PM&DC initiates probe into death of student caused by alleged mistreatment of medical college

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC), taking swift notice of the tragic death of a medical student, allegedly caused by misconduct and mistreatment of the staff of Avicenna Medical College Lahore, has launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

“The PM&DC, as the apex regulatory body for medical and dental education in Pakistan, is deeply saddened by the loss of a promising medical student and extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this unfortunate incident,” said the spokesperson of the council.

The PM&DC has taken notice of the matter regarding the alleged misconduct and mistreatment of the aforementioned medical college towards students. In line with its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and patient care, the PM&DC has initiated a thorough investigation to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident.

PM&DC sought comments from the Avicenna Medical College about the unfortunate incident stating to reply on priority with comprehensive details. President of PM&DC, Prof. Dr. RizwanTaj stated, “We are deeply concerned about the circumstances leading to the untimely demise of a medical student and are committed to ensuring that justice is served.
