ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on an official visit to Egypt on December 18 where he will participate in Developing Eight (D8) Summit.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the announcement about Sharif’s upcoming visit as leaders from eight nations including Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Indonesia are meeting to foster economic ties among its members.
During the summit, the premier is expected to highlight theme of “Investing in Youth and Supporting SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises): Shaping Tomorrow’s Economy”, and he will stress importance of youth investment and SME development in building a strong, inclusive economy, creating jobs, and advancing innovation.
PM Shehbaz will also underline Islamabad’s commitment to D8’s core values and advocate for increased cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, food security, and tourism. He will also attend a Special Session on the humanitarian crisis and reconstruction challenges in Gaza and Lebanon, addressing the ongoing impact of Israeli aggression in the region.
Sharif will push for peace in the Middle East, in light of Pakistan’s stance on the deteriorating situation.
MoFA added that Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will also represent Asian nation at 21st Session of the D-8 Council of Ministers this week. PM Sharif and Dar will also interact with world leaders for bilateral talks.
