Plan should be made to produce electricity from hay: Imtiaz

Sindh Minister for Energy Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh said that plans should be made to set up a viable plant to finalize the concept of gas and electricity generation from hay, agricultural residues and livestock waste and it should be ensured that the plants should be established at those places where hay, agricultural residues and livestock waste are available permanently in required quantity.

Presiding over a meeting at his office with a delegation of Creeko Pvt Ltd Sindh Minister for Energy Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh  said that the sustainability of the project should be analyzed before setting up a 20 KW power plant on agricultural land near Jamshoro on trial basis.  Sindh Minister for Energy Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh  said, in case of success of the project, with the cooperation of Sindh government.

Several such large and small plants can be set up across the province so that this waste can be utilized to improve the economic condition of the local population and in rural areas, farming and animal husbandry, the population can get economic benefits from their land and livestock waste, as well as electricity and gas according to their needs.
