PESHAWAR  – The Peshawar High Court on Saturday said that it cannot consider the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s request for a judicial inquiry into the incidents of May 9.

In a recent communication, the Registrar of the Peshawar High Court informed the Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that the request, in its current form, is in violation of the KP Government Rules of Business 1985.

The registrar said that the request cannot be processed.

The Advocate General had previously written to the Registrar seeking the establishment of a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 events and had requested the appointment of judicial officers to oversee the inquiry.

PTI Founder Imran Khan had time and again demanded judicial inquiry into May 9 riots.

Last week, Imran Khan while talking to the reporters inside Adialal Jail had announced that he would take strict action against his party leaders if they are found guilty of May riots. He demanded the footage and said that his party would also take strict action against those who are found involved in May 9 riots.
