PESHAWAR – Widespread rains and gusty winds are expected in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday night and Tuesday with occasional gaps.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal penetrate the upper/eastern parts of Pakistan. They will likely approach central/southern parts of the country.
Under these conditions, intermittent rains and gusty winds are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Mohmand, Kohat, Khyber, Kurram, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan on Monday night. Heavy falls are also likely at few places in upper districts.
On Tuesday, more rains and gusty winds are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mohmand, Kohat, Khyber, Kurram, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan. Heavy falls are also likely at few places in upper districts during this period.
Heavy falls may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 29th and 30th July. Urban flooding may also occur in the low-lying areas of Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the forecast period.
Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 31-33°C on Tuesday and 30-32°C on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, isolated rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in upper districts during the last 24 hours. Hot and humid weather prevailed elsewhere in the province.

Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C.
In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 33°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 75 per cent.
