Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Com-mittee Chairman Zaka Ashraf has offered former captain Mohammad Hafeez to work together for the betterment of cricket.

According to media reports, Mr Hafeez had been offered the role of advisor, chief selector or the Na-tional Cricket Academy, adding that the all-rounder had expressed his willingness and asked for time to take a final decision.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Hafeez has confirmed that he had received the offer. He said Mr Ashraf is respectable person for him, adding that he was ready to take cricket in the right direction in the true sense, but not at all eager to take up a job in the board. The offer comes as Mr Ashraf assumed charge as chair-man of the PCB Management Committee after Najam Sethi stepped down.

In the first meeting with board members, the PCB said that his prime focus will be on the im-provement of cricket and cricketers.

He also emphasized on bringing transparency in the affairs of the cricket board. He provided reassur-ance to the members that grievances regarding the elections of the Regions and Associations will be redressed and he guaranteed transparent elections for the Regions and Associations.

“Zaka Ashraf is a decent executive. I genuinely regard him a great deal. I will consider a decent proposal to serve Pakistan cricket,” the previous all-rounder was cited as saying.

According to the report, previous Pakistani hitter Younis Khan and quick bowler Shoaib Akhtar could be offered significant jobs in the PCB. Khan has the experience of playing 118 Tests, 265 ODIs, and 25 T20Is for Pakistan. Akhtar, who was known for his sheer speed, highlighted in 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20Is for Pakistan.

Mohammad Hafeez by these two stalwarts, two other previous Pakistani cricketers, Mohsin Hassan Khan, and Saleem Yousuf, could likewise take sig-nificant situations in the nation’s cricket administer-ing body.

Pakistan’s next task is a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. The primary Test starts on July 16 in Galle. Babar Azam’s men will play a two-day practice match preceding this experience.—Agencies
