The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has decided to hold a nationwide protest on June 17, 2021 against the Model Town tragedy.
According to details, the situation of the Model Town tragedy case was reviewed in the meeting of the core committee of the Awami Tehreek.
The meeting decided that a peaceful protest would be held on June 17 at the district level by organizations and workers across the country.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary General of the movement Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that no progress has been made for justice even during the three years of the present government.
He said that government officials had promised dozens of times to end false cases but they were not implemented.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that there was a demand from day one that the Model
Town tragedy should be investigated impartially but the new JIT has been suspended by the Lahore High Court for a year and a half.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary General of the movement Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that no progress has been made for justice even during the three years of the present government.
The Awami Tehreek Secretary General said that in the peaceful protest, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court would be requested to play a role in bringing justice to the Model Town tragedy.
The core committee meeting was attended by Central President Qazi Zahid Hussain, Raja Zahid Mahmood, Noorullah Siddiqui, Basharat Jaspal, Mian Rehan Maqbool, Rao Kamran, Sardar Mansoor Khan, Mian Kashif, Rao Arif Rizvi, Noor Ahmad Sahu and Arif Chaudhry.
