People travelling onboard Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) to Islamabad Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) flight PK-9754, which finally touched down at Islamabad’s international airport on Sunday, 30 hours after the scheduled time, lost their temper and resorted to sloganeering against the PIA management.

According to the reports, so vexed were the passengers that they did not even wait for the plane to land and started shouting slogans while the plane was in the air.

Giving reasons for the delayed arrival, spokesman for the national flag carrier said that the flight was made to land at Damam airport due to bad weather. “And when at last the weather became normal, the pilot refused to fly, saying his duty hours were over,” he said, adding, “Hence, instead of heading towards Islamabad the plane was rerouted to Riyadh where the passengers refused to disembark in protest.”

The spokesman further said that the situation deteriorated to such an extent that even the security personnel deputed at Riyadh airport had to call in to restore order.

He went on to add that in order to ensure flight’s security, pilots and the crew members are made to rest. “So, after the rest of few hours, the plane finally left for Islamabad,” the spokesman concluded.
