MULTAN – Pakistan continued its batting on the second day of the second Test match against England at Multan Stadium on Wednesday (today).

At the start of play on the second day of the Multan Test, Pakistan suffered a setback when Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed after scoring 41 runs.

Second Day

Pakistan resumed its incomplete first innings at 259 for 5 at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Only 5 runs were added to the total when wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for 41 runs. Shortly after, Agha Salman also departed after scoring 31 runs.

First Day

In the second Test match being played at Multan Cricket Stadium, Pakistan’s innings was opened by Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique.

Opener Abdullah Shafique once again failed and lost his wicket after scoring just 7 runs.

Captain Shan Masood also couldn’t play a long innings and returned to the pavilion after scoring only 3 runs.

Both wickets were taken by Jack Leach of England.

After losing two early wickets, Saim Ayub, along with Kamran Ghulam, improved the team’s position and played defensively, scoring 77 runs. However, he later handed a catch to Ben Stokes off Matthew Potts’ delivery.

New batsman Saud Shakeel couldn’t stay long at the crease and was dismissed after scoring just 4 runs. Meanwhile, Kamran Ghulam, who had scored a century on his Test debut, made 118 runs before falling to Shoaib Bashir.

At the end of the first day, Pakistan had scored 259 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, with wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan at 37 and Salman Agha at 5 still at the crease.

For England, Jack Leach took 2 wickets, while Shoaib Bashir, Matthew Potts, and Brydon Carse took one wicket each.

Earlier, Pakistan’s captain Shan Masood won the toss and opted to bat first. He said they aim to post a big score against the visitors to put them under pressure.

On this occasion, England captain Ben Stokes said the team’s morale is high after the first Test victory, and they aim to win the second Test and clinch the series.
