ISLAMABAD – First indigenously-manufactured electric car will be rolled out in Pakistani market by December 2024.

It surfaced during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who was also informed that the first license for domestic production of four wheel electric vehicles was issued in September this year.

The Eco-Green Motors Limited has secured a license from the Engineering Development Board and it is valid for the period from September 5, 2024 to June 30, 2025.

Dewan Motors has collaborated with the Eco-Green Motors Limited for launching electric vehicles in Pakistan.

The company has been given the license for manufacturing of Eco-Green Ve 2.0 – 200km Electric Car and Eco-Green Ve3.0 – 300km electric card, shows the license.

Meanwhile, the prime minister has directed to finalise E-Vehicles policy by November this year after consultations with all the federating units and stakeholders.

He also directed to present a comprehensive financial model and improve licensing regulations regarding the manufacturing of electric vehicles in the country.

Shehbaz Sharif said the government is taking priority steps to promote electric vehicles in the country, noting these vehicles will not only save valuable foreign exchange in terms of import of petrol and diesel but  will also be environment friendly, state broadcaster reported.
