The Government of Pakistan issues passport to its bonafide citizens so they can travel abroad with ease as passport is an international requirement.
Accordingly, the holder of a valid Pakistan passport, when in a foreign country, is entitled to the protection of diplomatic and consular representative of Pakistan in that country.
Passport is the only document that confirms the identity of the citizen abroad of Pakistan, as well as, realizes his/her right to exit from the country and entry into the country.
Pakistani nationals, who are acquiring the passport first time, are required to visit the relevant passport office or foreign mission to submit application.
The government has recently increases the fee for normal and urgent categories. As of June 2024, the new fee for standard 36-page passport for 5 years now stands at Rs 4,500, while the urgent processing fee has increased from Rs5,000 to Rs7,500.
For 10-year validity period, the fee for 36-page passport has been increased to Rs 6,700 , with the urgent fee rising to Rs 11,200.
For 72-page passport for 5 years, people will have to pay Rs 8,200 for normal processing and Rs 13,500 for urgent processing. For 100-page passport valid for 10 years, the new fee surged to Rs12,400 for regular processing and Rs20,200 for urgent processing.
Documents Required for Obtaining New Passport
Evidencing proof of prescribed passport fee payment, through Original Bank Paid Fee Challan (receipt) or e-Payment Confirmation Detail (SMS/Email along with PSID No.)
Original Valid CNIC/NICOP with a photocopy.
Previous Passport in original with its photocopy, (if issued).
NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the concerned department in case of government, semi-government or autonomous body employees.
