Directs immediate functioning of shut down power plants
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said that the risk of bankruptcy has been averted and the government’s foremost priority is to pull the country out of the economic crisis.
PM Shehbaz said this during his visit to the residence of senior analyst Salman Ghani and extended his condolences to Salman Ghani on his brother’s demise.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that he would work day and night to make the country as per the Quaid’s vision.
While talking about the recent $2.3 billion deposit by China, the PM expressed gratefulness to the neighbouring country. Pakistan has moved out of the difficult time, he said.
He further said that the previous government had ruined the country’s economy and violated the IMF agreement. The PM also ensured people that he is currently monitoring the load-shedding himself. Load-shedding is taking place due to the PTI government’s untimely deals, he added.
Shehbaz said that “When gas was cheap to up $3, the PTI government acted with severe negligence. Delays in projects have harmed the country’s agriculture, industry and exports.”
The PM also expressed grief over the Quetta bus incident, in which 19 people were killed and also prayed for the deceaseds and also conveyed his sympathies to their relatives.
“Instructions have been issued to provide the best and quickest medical care to the injured,” added the PM.
Earlier in the day, chairing an important meeting regarding issues of power load-shedding and energy crises, Shehbaz Sharif directed the authorities concerned to take immediate steps for making the shut-down power plants functional and sought a report entailing clear reasons over the load-shedding.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of State for Petroleum Mussadiq Malik, whereas, Minister for Energy Engineer Khurram Dastagir, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, MNA, and PM’s Special Assistant on Public Policy/Strategic Communications Fahad Hussain participated in the meeting via videolink. The relevant authorities also attended the meeting. During the meeting, the steps to resolve the ongoing power crises in the country were discussed.
The prime minister also directed for resolution of the issues of provinces regarding provision of drinking water and agriculture facilities on priority basis. The Indus River System Authority was told to take an independent decision after mutual consultation of the provinces.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also chaired a high-level meeting on Sunday regarding preparations for Eidul Azha and the cleanliness campaign during the Eid days. The prime minister was given a detailed briefing regarding the arrangements for cleanliness in Punjab during Eidul Azha.
