RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Monday joined the Christian community at Christ Church, Rawalpindi as the top commander takes part in Christmas celebrations.
In a statement, Pakistan Army’s media wing ISPR said General Syed Asim Munir was welcomed for sharing the festivity with Christians. Gen Asim extended wishes to Merry Christmas to the entire Christian community in the country.
Greeting on the annual festivity, COAS stressed upon need to promote greater interfaith harmony in Pakistani society and urged all to follow the true vision of the Father of the Nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
General Asim Munir stressed interfaith harmony, urging people of all sects to follow lesson of peace, and friendship. He commended contributions and sacrifices made by the entire Christian community of Pakistan in all fields and domains.

The top general also emphasizes the significance of having truthful perception, truth, and knowledge-based opinions about national issues rather than going after rhetoric and propaganda.
He said our enemies are hell-bent on creating fissures using religious, ethnic, and political vulnerabilities, but he stressed standing together and united to rise as a resolute and strong nation.
In accordance with Quaid Day, COAS also paid tribute to Jinnah on his 147th birthday, and borrowed his historical remarks made in his speech on August 11, 1947, while addressing the Constituent Assembly, as “You are free. You are free to go to your temples. You are free to go to your mosques or to any other places of worship in this State of Pakistan.”
