Pak records 53 more corona deaths, 1,346 infections Dr AQ Javed Iqbal and Dr Anila Naseer die of Covid

Amid reports that Pakistan will receive another consignment of China’s Sinopharm vaccine, 53 more people lost their lives to the Covid-19 pandemic whereas 1,346 new cases were reported during the last 24 hours.

As per the latest NCOC statistics, the death toll has climbed up to 11,967 while the number of confirmed cases from coronavirus in the country stood at 554,474.

As many as 250,648 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 160,580 in Punjab, 68,338 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18,859 in Balochistan, 41,934 in Islamabad, 9,199 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 4,916 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to media reports, Pakistan will get another consignment of the Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine today. Half a million doses of the vaccine will be brought to Pakistan via a special flight of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force.

Meanwhile, renowned pharmacist, Dr AQ Javed Iqbal and Dr Anila Naseer lost their lives while battling with coronavirus on Sunday. Dr AQ Javed Iqbal was fighting the pandemic, but could not survive and lost his life. During his medical career, Dr Iqbal remained at many key posts in the health ministry and Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, according to a statement released by the Provincial Doctors Association, Dr Anila Naseer also died at the MH Hospital. Dr Anila was a specialised gynaecologist and worked for several years in a government hospital until 2007, when she left her government job to start her own clinic.
