Pacer Haris Rauf has apologised andvowednottorepeathiscontroversial cut-throat celebration that he performed in the Big Bash League (BBL), according to LahoreQalandarsheadcoachAqib Javed. Rauf has been in impressive formintheongoing2019-20BBL season, racking up 10 wickets in just atrio of outings. However, his over-exuberant display following his wicket, including his throat-slitting gesture, hascausedaneedlesscontroversy, with some pointing out that it’s againstthe spirit of play. Javed, who coaches Rauf in thePakistanSuperLeague,saysthe Rawalpindi-born fast bowler has realisedhismistakeandalreadytenderedanapology. “Haris (Rauf) apologised for hisinappropriatecelebrationafterI toldhimthatsuchathingisagainst the moral code observed by the Qalandars,” Javed is quoted as saying byCricketPakistan. “He also vowed to observerestraint in this regard during future matches,” the Qalandars traineradded.—Agencies
