Online ‘Almi Mushaira’ to celebrate Independence Poets, writers’ role in Pakistan’s Independence Movement highlighted

Writer community has played a commendable role in the Pakistan Movement and in their work they carried forward the cause of independence from the British and infused a new spirit in the hearts of the Muslims of India.
Besides in their writings—poems, articles, columns, essays—they expressed support to the epic struggle of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his lieutenants for the establishment of separate Homeland for the Muslims of India.
These views were expressed by eminent poet and former Director General National Language Promotion Department (NLPD) Iftikhar Arif while addressing as Chief Guest at the online “Almi Urdu Musahira” (Global Poetry Recital) organized by the National Language Promotion Department Islamabad in connection with Pakistan’s Independence Day.
The online global poetry recital was in fact the concluding ceremony of the 3-day World Urud Conference, the NLPD had organized in connection with the Independence Day celebrations.
Poets and writers from all over the world participated in the conference and expressed their deep love for the country.
Iftikhar Arif was of the view that since Pakistan’s existence many difficulties were faced that is an aspect of Pakistan’s history but there is another rich history i.e. of culture and tradition, which has been created by writers and poets, and they are doing the same today on the occasion of Independence day.
In his word of thanks, Dr Rashid Hameed, DG, NLPD expressed his gratitude to all the poets for participating in the event and said despite the time difference and different countries poets from all over the world, participated and recite the poetries filled with great love for their motherland and were present till end of the event.
Drama writer and poet Amjid Islam Amid and poet Muhammad Azhar-ul-Haq were the special guests.
Among those who participated in the online event and presented their kalam included Arif Naqvi (Germany), Dr. Riaz Majeed, Anwar Shaoor, Jaleel Aali, Ashfaq Hussain (Canada), Yasmeen Hameed, Ali Akber Abbas, Naseem Syed (Canada), Hassan Abbas Raza, Dr. Fatima Hassan, Humaira Rehman (America), Qamar Raza Shehzad, Rahat Sarhadi, Ishrat Afreen (America), Rashid Litif (U.K), Mohsin Shkeel, Maqsood Wafa, Nasira Zubairi, Ghazanfar Hashmi (America) and Ahsaan Shah recite their poetry for the homeland.
