NPC executive committee highlights role of ‘purposeful’ education in society

Education without a purpose or insight is useless and the Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC) is committed to highlighting this issue at all forums with the stakeholders, the schools, colleges and universities as well as the government representatives.
These views were expressed by the members of the NPC during 106th meeting of the Executive Committee here on Monday at the Dr Majid Nizami Committee Room of the Aiwan-e-Quaid.
Chairman of the NPC Dr Naeem Ghani presided over the meeting while among those who participated included Senior Vice President Mian Muhammad Javed, Executive Secretary of the NPC & Executive Editor of Pakistan Observer Gauhar Zahid Malik, members former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Wazir Ahmed Jogezai, Admiral (R) Aziz A Mirza, Prof Dr Ayub Sabir, MNA Mrs Farrukh Khan, Senator Razina Alam Khan, Faridullah Khan, ex-Chairman FBR Abdullah Yusuf, Saleem Gul Sheikh, Maj Gen (R) Muhammad Tahir, Mrs Qamar Aftab, Dr Afzal Babar, Mrs Nargis Nasir and Manzoor Masih.
While endorsing the minutes of the 105th meeting, the executive committee resolved to make efforts towards including subjects of environment, ideology of Pakistan, vocational training in the conventional education being imparted at school level.
Dr Naeem Ghani said unfortunately, our children are not taught nor trained to do some practical or vocational work after completing their education. This is why majority of our passing out graduates are directionless and know little to find some respectable job in the professional life, he regretted.
The executive committee also agreed to celebrate weeklong programmes on Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal during the month of April. A number of topics to be discussed in the upcoming meetings of the Nukta-e-Nazr were also approved mainly on the poetry and philosophy of Allama Iqbal.
