Hindu leaders in Indian expressed their indifference regarding the opening ceremony of the Ram temple as four famous Hindu leaders boycotted inauguration of the Ram temple—calling it a wrong move.

Hindu leaders said that the Modi government has hurt the sentiments of Muslims in a bid to win the upcoming elections in India as opening temple of Ram.

Modi and the BJP were involved in the campaign to demolish the Babri Masjid and build a temple in its place. Babri Masjid was martyred by Hindu extremists in 1992. On January 22, Modi will inaugurate the controversial temple in Ayodhya.

Congress said inauguration an incomplete temple is a campaign ploy and BJP is dragging religion into politics.

“Politicians and religious leaders are divided but still politicians are performing all religious duties,” Communist Party of India (CPI) said.

“Various shopkeepers and shopping malls were threatened to put up banners of Ram Mandir inauguration. Congress not attending the high-profile event is a major flashpoint ahead of the general elections,” analysts said.

“Condemning the BJP, it called its own country’s party the Ravana of Ramayana, Indian media. Inaugurating Ram temple in Ayodhya before elections is ignorance of BJP,” Mamata Banerjee said.—INP
