MQM leader Waseem Akhtar has said that they are not fleeing from the election, but fighting for a strong mayor. Talking to the media on Monday, he said that the PTI and the Jamaat-e-Islami would have raised an uproar had they been serious in the matter.
He said that the SC had ordered to transfer the powers. “Faults in the delimitation and voters’ lists should be removed,” he demanded.The MQM leader said that the election should be held after removing errors in the voters’ lists.MQM leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan said that the act of the PTI and the Jamaat-e-Islami was undemocratic. “Both parties will not be able to appoint their mayor even though all contestants die,” he claimed.
On the other hand, JI leader Hafiz Naeem said that Karachi is on the verge of destruction. “In fact the MQM and the PPP do not want the local bodies elections,” he added.
